Circular, just over ½” diameter inscribed with a hexagram on radiant ground. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored on a Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. The form is found in many early religions, notable as the Star of David for Judaism. That form is specifically made of two superimposed triangles. Similarly, it is found in Islam (probably borrowed from the Jews) and Hinduism. Here, it is adapted as six conjoined cusps. The radiant ground is characteristic of Christian art and particularly the Gothic period. Its function was probably influenced by Pagan/superstitious beliefs which were mingled with Christianity at the time.
