Made from a durable hardback cover and containing 96 pages of 100gsm lined paper, this journal is adorned with an image of a Chinese silk archers sleeve from Edo period Japan 1603-1867, a treasured piece within our museum and noted for its remarkable craftsmanship and intricacy.
The Chinese silk brocade is lined with pale blue hemp. These sleeves were worn on the left arm to protect the clothing from rub of the bowstring when practising archery. It has a cord and toggles to fasten it at the wrist and long ties to fasten under the right arm.
The journal is a perfect gift for yourself or loved one and fantastic way to celebrate the unique pieces within the Royal Armouries museum.
